Police: Missing child found in Platte River has died

DENVER — A missing child died Saturday afternoon after being found in the Platte River, police said.

The child, 3, was reported missing shortly before 1 p.m., according to the Denver Police Department. Police originally responded to 9th Avenue and Alcott Street.

The child was spotted in the river a short time later. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, DPD said.

The child was pronounced dead about 5 p.m.
