Hunters snag 1,011.5-pound alligator in Alabama

THOMASTON, Ala. — Some hunters in Alabama are celebrating one massive catch. A wildlife biologist with the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fishers says a family caught a record-breaking gator in south Alabama, Al.com reported.

The gator is 15 feet in length and weighed 1,011.5 pounds. It was caught by Mandy and John Stokes, Kevin Jenkins and his children out of the Alabama River.

It’s the largest gator ever legally killed in Alabama. Al.com reported the crew fought the gator for more than five hours and even tried to shoot it.
