LONGMONT, Colo. — Less than 24 hours after a Colorado family asked for help after a deadly car crash, KWGN viewers and friends helped raise over $13,000 for the family in need.
Heather and Amber Adams are planning to travel to South Africa on Thursday to reunite with their mother who remains hospitalized in South Africa.
Their mother and two other Coloradans remain in the country after a deadly car crash over the weekend. The crash, which was reported by local South African media, took the life of Trudy Dietzen and Scott Reneau – both of whom were Colorado residents.
The group of five were in South Africa for a business conference on behalf of Boulder software company KeyMark Enterprises.
“I want to be there with my mom to let her know she’s got a huge support system,” said Heather Broackway, the daughter of crash victim Mariann Adams.
The family is hoping to use the money not only for travel assistance but to help bring their mother back to the United States as soon as she’s ready to fly.
