PHOENIX –The Denver Cutthroats, a minor league hockey team that plays their games at the Denver Coliseum, suspended their operations Wednesday and will not compete in the Central Hockey League in the 2014-15 season.
The organization will try to secure additional investors and return for the 2015-16 season. All players who were signed for the upcoming season will become free agents.
“We feel the Denver market remains a strong, viable area for minor league hockey, and has an ownership group that is passionate about making it work,” CHL Commissioner Steve Ryan said in a statement. “We are confident that with time, they will return to the ice and re-establish themselves in the community for the years ahead. The League would like to thank the Denver Cutthroats ownership, team management and their loyal fans for their support, dedication and enthusiasm.”
