Young man dies after train hits him in Loveland

LOVELAND, Colo. — Police say a 15-20-year-old died after a freight train hit him on the tracks in Loveland late Friday night.

The Burlington Northern Railway called Loveland emergency communications about the incident just before 11 p.m. Friday.

He was hit between 37th and 29th streets in the 3200 block. The train was going south from Cheyenne to Denver.

Police spoke with the train operators who said, “[They] saw a male walking next to the train track. The male walked onto the tracks. The train applied its emergency brakes to try and stop but it was unable to stop in such a short distance and hit the pedestrian.”

Officers found the young man’s body under the train.

  • Male, 15-20 years old
  • 5’6″ to 5’9″
  • Medium buil
  • White t-shirt
  • Grayish-blue gym shorts
  • Black DC brand shoes
