LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — Northbound Interstate 25 was closed for about six hours Tuesday after a tractor-trailer crashed through a guardrail and was partially dangling off a bridge over the interstate, causing fuel to leak.
The accident on Highway 402 just north of Johnson’s Corner happened about 5 a.m., and detours were put in place from the off-ramp back to the on-ramp at Exit 255, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The truck was empty, otherwise it could have fallen onto the interstate, the Colorado State Patrol said. The driver was not injured. Officials say 280 feet of guardrail were taken out in the crash and the driver will be cited for careless driving.
Highway 402 and northbound Interstate 25 reopened about 11 a.m.
