Off-duty Adams County sheriff’s deputy seriously injured in crash

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — An off-duty Adams County sheriff’s deputy on his way to work was injured in a crash involving a truck on Thursday morning, the Commerce City Police Department said.

Numerous agencies responded to the crash at Colorado Boulevard and East 52nd Avenue. The crash caused a fuel leak.

The off-duty deputy, who was traveling in an unmarked vehicle, was pulled out of the vehicle and taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Colorado Boulevard was closed from East 52nd Avenue to East 48th Avenue, the Colorado Department of Transportation said. It reopened about 10:15 a.m.

Police are still investigating to determine who was at fault.
