DENVER — A man is dead after being shot by police in Denver early Saturday morning.

The man – who has not yet been identified – was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Denver police say officers were trying to pick up a wanted person at a home near N. Fox Street and Ellsworth Avenue.

When officers arrived shortly before 3 a.m., the found a man inside with a knife.

Police say he refused to drop it and started moving toward the officers.

They use a taser on the man, but it was not effective, according to police, and the man continued to move toward the officers. The officers then shot the man.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
