Missing 2-week-old baby from Pueblo found safe
PUEBLO, Colo. — A 2-week-old baby who was reported missing with his father was found safe over the weekend, the Pueblo Police Department said Monday morning.
Earnest Johnson, 35, was supposedly taking the baby to the doctor on Tuesday but never returned the boy, Cassius Head, to his mother. No one had been able to contact Johnson, police said.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing endangered alert on Saturday.
Police said Johnson contacted them on Sunday afternoon after seeing information about him and the missing child. Police said he fully cooperated with the investigation, which is being treated as a child custody dispute.
Police said Johnson might had been traveling with his girlfriend, 35-year-old Jolene Lacabone, and they could have been in Mississippi. Police did not say where Johnson was located.
No charges are pending, police said. The child’s mother, Kateri Head, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. The child will remain with Johnson, police said.
