AURORA, Colo. — A man was killed after his motorcycle struck a vehicle and burst into flames Wednesday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police responded to the crash about 8:15 p.m. at East Quincy Avenue and South Genoa Street. When an officer arrived, the motorcycle was fully involved in fire and the man was unconscious in the street.

The officer performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Quincy at a high rate of speed and several witnesses said the motorcycle did not have its front headlight on.

The vehicle attempted to turn left from Genoa onto Quincy when it struck the motorcycle.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, police said. It’s not known if the driver of the vehicle was injured.

The motorcyclist and the driver of the vehicle have not been identified.
