Starwood Fire in northern Larimer County prompts evacuations

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- A wildfire that started Sunday afternoon north of the Red Feather Lakes area in Larimer County has prompted some evacuations.

Officials are calling the fire the Starwood Fire. It is burning in the area of County Road 59 and Starwood Trail.

Residents of Mill Creek subdivision and on the east side of County Road 59 between 80C and the state line should evacuate, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said.

43 contacts (not homes) in the Mill Creek subdivision alone have gotten evacuation notices, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials say the fire is an estimated 300 acres and is 10 percent contained.

As of shortly before 7:00 p.m., there are 30 structures threatened, but there has been no reports of damage or injuries.

40-60 firefighters from several agencies are in the area working on the fire.
