Crazy creatures and cosplay this Labor Day

DENVER, Colo. – While many people were out and about celebrating this Labor Day, for others the holiday brings an end to some of their favorite events.

Colorado State Fair Wraps Up

The biggest happens to be the Colorado State Fair.

This year the State Fair celebrated its 144th year. Among the neat things to see this year: crazy creatures! From a baboon who knows how to fold its legs and smile to a team of sea lions from Florida, there was plenty to see and do!

The State Fair concludes at 11 p.m. Monday.

Anime Festival Celebrates 20 Years in Denver

About 29,000 people attended the 20th annual Nan Desu Kan anime festival in downtown Denver this holiday weekend.

The event featured celebrity voice actors from some of the most popular anime shows. As in years past, a good chunk of attendees dressed up in cosplay to show off their favorite characters!

Seminars were held also, as well as a fundraiser for Canine Companions. All in all, the event raised $15,000 for the charity.

Limon Heritage Museum and Railroad Park

Out East, in Limon, the town’s Heritage Museum and Railroad Park halted operations for the season.

The museum ends its tours after Labor Day. They will return on Memorial Day 2017, however.

The museum pays tribute to Limon’s historic connection to the railroad, dating back to the 1800s.
