Northbound I-25 at 104th Avenue reopens after rollover crash kills one

NORTHGLENN, Colo. -- One person was killed and northbound Interstate 25 was closed for nearly three hours Tuesday morning after a rollover crash involving two vehicles, the Northglenn Police Department said.

The crash happened in the 10800 block of the interstate about 6 a.m. Vehicles were taken off at East 104th Avenue and traffic quickly backed up in the area.

Crews let vehicles that were stuck between 104th Avenue and the accident scene to get through, but the interstate remained closed as crews investigated the crash.

Witnesses told police a pickup track was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck another pickup truck from behind in the HOV lane, then went airborne and rolled.

The driver of the truck going at a high rate of speed was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the vehicle that was hit from behind did not report any serious injuries.

The interstate reopened just before 9 a.m.

The name, age and gender of the person who died was not released. The accident remains under investigation.
