DENVER — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Monday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

Police said the pedestrian was hit near West 50th Avenue and Federal Boulevard about 5 a.m.

Police said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing. The driver of the vehicle was unable to see the pedestrian before the accident, police said.

The name, age and gender of the pedestrian and the driver were not released. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The extent of the injuries was not released by police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
