WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Police shot and killed an armed home burglary suspect near Huron Street and West 121st Avenue in Westminster on Tuesday afternoon.
It began around 3:30 p.m. when police received a 911 call about a robbery in the 12100 block of Bannock Street.
The caller said he found several people in his garage stealing items. The victim told police he was punched in the face and had a gun pointed at him when he confronted a suspect.
That man told a dispatcher there were three males and one female with pink hair in a Chevrolet Malibu. The car did not have license plates but was filled with stolen goods, including a bicycle, Westminster police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke said.
He also said the suspect who pointed the gun at him left on a motorcycle.
Spottke said officers found the motorcycle near 121st and Huron after it crashed and the suspect ran away on foot.
Officers chased him and said when they attempted to take him into custody, he displayed a gun. Two Westminster officers fired their weapons and the suspect died at the scene.
The homeowner suffered minor injuries. The other four individuals remained at large Tuesday night.
Huron Street was closed in the area while police investigated.
