Police looking for stolen minivan in search for random shooters

LONGMONT, Colo. — Longmont police are looking for a person who was firing shots from a stolen car. Now investigators say someone who was in the car has stolen a minivan in Erie.

Police said someone was firing shots from a blue 2009 Toyota sedan with license place 650-WGU.

It started outside Longmont, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. Someone in the car fired shots near Highway 287 and Oxford Road. It is believed there were at least two people in the vehicle.

The driver went through Erie, and that’s where at least one person jumped out and stole a  blue Town and Country van with license plate 452-UIJ, the sheriff’s office said.

FOX31 Reporter Michael Konopasek spoke to a woman’s whose back window was shot out in Erie. She said the bullet just missed her 2-year-old daughter.

Officers chased the Toyota, lost it, and later found it unoccupied in a ravine on Flagg Drive, east of Lafayette.
